Blessed Lord, help me to die to the world
and all its allures.
I confess I am too much of the world;
I stink of it.
Please remove the dust of this world
and the stench of its values from me.
Help me to reckon myself
crucified with Christ to this cosmos,
this present age,
this broken system.
Cleanse me of my materialism,
of my gluttony,
status-seeking,
and all that smacks of this world.
Tune my heart and mind instead
to the music of your kingdom,
in Jesus' name, I pray, amen.
